Job Overview

The Staff Accountant is a key member of the Accounting team that supports the Crimson Renewable Energy, LP organization. The Staff Accountant is an addition to the department, as a result of growth, providing general ledger support, account analysis and account reconciliations for multiple companies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Responsible for journal entries to the General Ledger
  • Independently analyze account and account reconciliation for all assets, liability and capital accounts
  • Manage fixed assets sub ledgers including accounting for additions, disposals, basis adjustments, depreciation and reconciliation to the General Ledger
  • Manage monthly external and internal reporting and analysis processes in support of operations, budgeting and business assessments
  • Support cash management and treasury activities

Education and Basic Requirements

  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance (MS preferred)
  • Detail oriented with solid analytical, financial, reporting and accounting skills
  • Ability to work the hours required to get the job done
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with co-workers and operating personnel
  • Detail oriented with strong accounting, analytical, and reporting skills
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be an effective communicator; can remain poised and under control while dealing with competing time pressure demands
  • Ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks under stringent deadlines
  • Complete special projects/assume additional responsibilities as assigned
  • Work location Denver, Colorado (occasional travel to field locations)
  • Must be able to successfully pass Drug and Alcohol pre-employment and on-going screening

 

Experience and Job Skills

  • 2-3 years of experience in Staff Accountant role (public/private mix preferred)
  • Experience in an ethanol, biodiesel, chemical production/petrochemical refining, or other commodities intensive manufacturing business a big plus
  • Basic knowledge of US GAAP with direct experience applying accounting procedures and policies
  • Basic knowledge of financial statements, period close activities, creating journal entries and preparing account reconciliations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Excel, Word Outlook, PowerPoint and Internet
  • Willingness and ability to take on and manage multiple activities and projects in fast-paced environment
